Smart Food-Infusing Microwavable Bags Released

A UK-based product and process development firm has unveiled an innovative food packaging design that's compatible with a wide range of foods.
Produced by Sirane, the Sira-Cook Smart-Release is a microwavable bag equipped with seals that open up during the cooking phase.
These allow sauces to infuse flawlessly and, already, one major retail organisation, Marks & Spencer, has teamed up the Smart-Release design with several of its fish products. These are its ‘Quick To Cook'-branded Haddock Mornay, Cod with Parsley and Lochmuir Salmon with Watercress dishes.
Smart-Release Food Bags
The Sira-Cook Smart Release food-bags boast a twin compartment feature which acts to keep food and sauces separate from each other. In between them is a seal which, when the bag's in the microwave, undergoes a controlled break, allowing the food and the sauce to mix.
There's also an additional vent and, once the food and sauce have fused, this opens, allowing the air pressure inside to remain constant.
The Sira-Cook Smart-Release has already been shown in public, having been exhibited at the recent European Seafood Expo staged in Belgium between 24-26 April.
Food-Infusing Microwavable Bags
"We are expecting significant levels of interest in Sira-Cook Smart-Release", Sirane's food packaging sales director, Jeremy Haydn-Davis, explained in a company press release on the food-infusing microwavable bags. He continued: "Food retailers can now offer stunning food cooked in just a couple of minutes in a microwave. Sira-Cook Smart-Release is a cost-effective solution to a long-standing problem."
The company's product and process development director, Ian Beardsall, added: "Sira-Cook Smart-Release is a truly great and cost-effective concept. The seals will only open at certain temperatures, so the food is cooked to absolute perfection in just a few minutes.
"The venting seals on Sira-Cook Smart-Release can be tuned for retailers to meet the cooking requirements of any contents, be it seafood, poultry, or even desserts."
