easyFairs is the world’s leading organiser of time and cost-effective trade shows. They make it easy for goals-oriented exhibitors and visitors to do business in a focused and professional environment.

Crucially, easyFairs opens up the trade show arena to smaller players, affording companies not normally on major brand radars or in routine dialogue with retailers, the chance to demonstrate their products and innovations.

Added to this mix of innovative smaller players, easyFairs’ visitors are also able to see the more established names that they expect – the events represent an incredibly valuable networking event for all concerned.

Packaging Concepts Trade Show

Exciting packaging concepts and future trends will be unwrapped when a quartet of expos at Birmingham’s NEC affords pioneering packagers and forward thinking materials suppliers a chance to make their mark.

Around 350 exhibitors – many of whom will be unveiling new products and technology – will take part across easyFairs® PACKAGING INNOVATIONS, easyFairs® ECOPACK, easyFairs® PACKTECH, and easyFairs® CONTRACT PACK.

The March 12-13 Packaging Concepts Trade shows cover everything from revolutionary eco-friendly packaging to plant technology and print developments. And there is also an event for contract packers in co-ordination with British Contract Manufacturers & Packers Association (BCMPA), reflecting the significant growth of this sector of the industry.

Packaging Designers

Product development managers will be hoping to identify the next revolutionary ideas when Birmingham’s NEC hosts the easyFairs® PACKAGING INNOVATIONS show on March 12-13 showcasing the latest Packaging Designers Innovation.

Covering the whole spectrum of innovation, the expo brings together everyone involved in pushing back the boundaries of packaging design, including manufacturers, packaging designers, brand agencies, and retailers.

While many leading suppliers, contract packers and design and brand agencies are returning for a second or third year, the 2008 show will also see some major new names coming onboard, such as Sun Chemical, Tetrapak, M&H Plastics, Seymour Powell and Wincanton.

Packaging Design Experts

Some of the UK’s most influential packaging innovators take centre stage when a quartet of exhibitions bring together Packaging Design Experts, brand managers, materials suppliers, engineers and environmentalists at Birmingham’s NEC.

Trade show specialists easyFairs® has attracted an impressive array of expert speakers to its March 12 & 13 expositions – easyFairs® PACKAGING INNOVATIONS, easyFairs® ECOPACK, easyFairs® PACKTECH, and easyFairs® CONTRACT PACK. Between them they’ll address everything from latest packaging designs and trends, to the machinery and equipment needed to deliver them, and spanning the entire role of packaging from brand enhancement, security and hygiene to environmental concerns and legislation updates.

Keynote deliveries and practical case studies will come from leading firms such as Smurfit Kappa, Rexam, Seymourpowell, Tetra Pak, Reckitt Benckiser and Sun Chemicals, plus think tanks like Packaging Materials Link, and eco-advisers WRAP and Envirowise.

Product Packaging Design

Brand managers can give their product packaging design an eco-MoT when the easyFairs® ECOPACK show comes to Birmingham’s NEC (March 12-13). Envirowise – the government-backed service giving green guidance to businesses – is encouraging visitors to bring examples of their packaging along to one of its workshops being held across both days.

An expert packagers’ panel will give feedback on submitted designs, offer advice on potential cost savings, and suggest redesign ideas that could reduce wastage and improve a company’s carbon footprint.

The workshops will also update delegates on new and pending packaging legislation.

Environmental Packaging on Board Agendas

A recent study by trade show specialist easyFairs® revealed that almost 60% of new product developers and marketers are looking to identify Environmental Packaging innovations that deliver benefits over the next 12 months.

With such a strong environmental message coming from brand Boards, the easyFairs® ECOPACK event (March 12-13 at Birmingham’s NEC) presents a striking opportunity for innovative environmental packaging suppliers.

Providing a focal point for environmental innovation in the packaging sector, easyFairs® ECOPACK is the only show in the UK to bring the latest sustainable packaging concepts and solutions together under the one roof.

Exhibitors range from Omni-Pac’s moulded fibre made from forestry thinnings and waste paper to 100% compostable PLA film from Sidaplax, and from environmentally aware design from ECO3 and Kinneir Dufort to low carbon transit packaging from Trak-Rap Ltd, the show will cover environmental issues from every angle.

Packaging Design Ideas

Plant automation is a key theme at this year’s easyFairs® PACKTECH show – Birmingham’s NEC (March 12-13) – where the latest developments in machinery and equipment needed to deliver new packaging design ideas are showcased.

The show boasts everything from new transit packaging to converting equipment on show, with robotics, automation and labelling the key themes for 2008.

Dr Ken Young from the British Automation Robotics Association (BARA), and head of Warwick University’s Automation Research Group, will also give practical advice on implementing effective automation. He said: “Too many plant managers view automation solely as a way to cut down on the wage bill – but of much greater benefit are the potential quality and consistency gains. In fact, having the right people in place is even more important when implementing robotics.”

DR Young will highlight various case studies to support his opinion. He added: “I’ve known automation projects that have had no right to succeed but, thanks to having the right people on board, have been successful – and conversely, ones that should have been a guaranteed success but floundered due to poor management.”
