Beardow Adams is focused upon the development and manufacture of hot melt adhesives – and, like so many innovative companies, it has grown from modest beginnings in 1977 to become the UK's largest manufacturer of hot melts. Still privately owned, Beardow Adams is one of the top ten adhesive companies in Europe.
End uses are in packaging (particularly case and carton sealing), converting, labelling, self-adhesive label and tape manufacture, woodworking, bookbinding and general product assembly.
The company is BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 registered. It is the only organisation in the adhesives sector to have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s most prestigious business prize, three times – twice for Export Achievement and, in 2002, for product innovation for its BAMFutura range.
Continued investment in state of the art equipment has made Beardow Adams’ site in Milton Keynes, England, the biggest single hot melt plant in Europe. Its five manufacturing units and ten production lines include two, very large lines dedicated to the manufacture of packaging adhesives.
With a wide range of products and an overall capacity of more than 32,000 tonnes/year – 4% of world hot melt production – the company can make hot melts very efficiently for large, global customers seeking identical specification adhesives for their plants worldwide.
Substantial R&D expenditure has enhanced Beardow Adams’ reputation for innovation in hot melt technology. The BAMFutura range of highly advanced, thermally stable hot melts is just one example, with others in the areas of pressure sensitives, low application temperature products and versatile assembly adhesives for bonding dissimilar materials.
The company exports to the EU, USA, Eastern Europe, Middle East, South Africa, South East Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
