Struggles with curl and static
So it comes as no surprise that Apex attaches particular significance to air humidification. "When running extremely lightweight stocks, we were having considerable struggles with excessive curl and static resulting from low humidity in our plant.
These problems were having a definite impact on production, leading to slower run speeds and increased down-time," remembers co-owner Sean Magill.
After researching different humidification systems, two DRAABE TurboFog 32 high-pressure humidifier and three TurboFog 4 units were installed in the pressroom and bindery. "DRAABE offered a clean, efficient and maintenance-free solution.
Furthermore the system is expandable, which allows it to grow with us and not be a fixed investment," says Sean Magill. The flexibility with which the different TurboFog atomizers can be combined together guarantees optimum humidity for each individual room requirement. With only one high-pressure circuit, the complete system costs very little to buy and to operate.
Immediate improvement
As part of the Full-Service Rental Agreement, DRAABE replaces the water treatment and highpressure containers for servicing and disinfection every six months. "We decided to go with this rental system so that we could reduce time and money spent on maintenance. Without exception, we are very confident in our decision to install the DRAABE system, says Magill.
