Franeker, February 2003. Huhtamaki Protective Packaging has developed a new molded fiber product, which reduces the direct cost of packaging VCRs, and brings a raft of secondary cost benefits.

Designed for Sharp Manufacturing UK (SMUK), the new molded fiber product is smaller and removes the requirement for an accessory tray.

With improved stackability and nesting/de-nesting and more products being accommodated per pallet, further cost benefits include a cut in handling and delivery expenditure and reduced storage space required by end-users.

Huhtamaki’s Technical Sales Manager (Europe) Grant Lloyd said design efficiency was the key to achieving maximum cost benefits.

“Our sophisticated design technology means we can tailor molded fiber products to companies’ very specific requirements, and develop the smallest, most effective packaging possible for them,” he said.
