The latest innovations in processing and packaging machinery will be on display at the NEC from September 26th to 28th this year.
For the past 19 years, the PPMA Show has showcased all the very latest machinery developments, attracting the single largest gathering of industry professionals in the UK. At every show, you will find machines that are faster, more accurate, more efficient than the time before, reflecting customer demands to maximise production and minimise cost.
A recurring theme remains integration, with manufacturers developing complementary ranges of equipment or forming working partnerships with other companies further up or down the line to deliver a complete processing and packing solution for end users.
The 2006 event will feature over 300 exhibitors, who will demonstrate a wide range of machinery - from carton and filling machines to food, chemical and pharmaceutical processing equipment; from conveyors and end of line equipment to labellers, weighers and flexible packaging machines; from conveyors and fluid handling machinery to separation & filtration and thermal processing and refrigeration equipment.
Useful visitor features at the show include the Technical Information Centre, where visitors can access the most important technical details of products on show to enable them to plan their day, compare kit and make purchasing decisions.
With increasing focus – particularly among leading retailers – on RFID tec-
hnology, a series of special RFID seminars will take place led by experts from leading organisations including the Packaging Federation, Toshiba TEC, PI Group, BT Auto-ID Services and Siemens Automation & Drives. Topics to be covered will include the fundamentals of RFID, integrating tags into different packaging substrates, key supply chain challenges, potential RFID labelling solutions, the international standards process and achieving ROI.
There will also be a series of Business Advice Seminars featuring talks and interactive sessions delivered by consultants in maintenance, sales and marketing, human resources and staff training. The programmes have been designed to help companies find the best staff and develop the best products to enable them to compete effectively in their marketplace.
Further details of the seminar programme can be found on the show website (www.ppmashow.co.uk), where pre-registered visitors can also take advantage of the ‘visitor meeting service’, a new feature which will enable them to arrange meetings with friends, peers and prospects at the PPMA Show bar.
The exhibition remains true to the fundamental principle on which it was originally established – to provide a cost-effective and fair environment that enables companies of all sizes to effectively demonstrate and sell their machines and technology to the UK’s buyers.

At the same time, the PPMA Show has continued to evolve to reflect the changing state of the markets it serves. This year, the latest initiative is the opportunity to give appropriate and complementary tool and materials suppliers the chance to exhibit. In particular, this recognises the change in responsibilities for many buyers, who now have to assess the whole production line before making a machinery purchase.

“The machinery sector is very dynamic, with manufacturers continually responding to new demands from customers for greater efficiencies, higher speeds and further integration, or to devise solutions for new pack or product types,” comments James Coleman, PPMA Show Marketing Manager.
“Visitors to the PPMA Show will have an opportunity to see for themselves the very latest equipment and discuss their specific requirements with knowledgeable suppliers, who are experts in their fields.”
