Being a specialist in the production of polypropylene labels makes Verstraete, a printer in Belgium, one of Europe’s top packaging printers.
The sensitive properties of the polymer require constant production conditions with a relative humidity of between 55 and 60 %. Otherwise, static electricity and also dimensional changes in the material lead to problems with material throughput.
"For a long time we used air washers in our ventilation ducting for humidification", remembers Geert Verstraete (Managing Director). Inadequate output and complex eventually drove the company to seek new technologies.

On a visit to the test print rooms at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, Geert Verstraete met the DRAABE direct room systems used there. The microfine atomization and unique container replacement concept won him over at once.

In fact, in the new production hall, over 60 high-pressure atomizers now humidify the entire production chain - pre-press, print room and warehouse. DRAABE process water treatment also reduces the isopropyl alcohol fraction and increases the service life of contact rollers. Geert Verstraete is sure that "production at the current high level would be impossible without DRAABE".
