Cobalt IS are showcasing a new non-stop pallet labelling system at PPMA 05 Complete with advanced self-checking capabilities the new system offers a secure high speed solution for bar code and RFID labelling to EAN and epcglobal standards.
Designed to perform unattended in challenging environments, the system includes extensive self checking and correction routines including: precision positioning, barcode verify (and reprint) before apply, epccode validate(and reject) before apply, label presence checks, label stock monitoring – all of which guarantee exceptional quality identification for all pallets.
Labels are verified and validated before and after application, with automatic reject, reprint and reapply functions to ensure that no pallet is ever poorly identified.
Operational speeds are optimised as the labeller prints/encodes as it repositions to apply. Achieving up to 150 moving pallets per hour, a single labeller can handle pallet feed from multiple lines.
Supported by the Cobalt Sentinel verification system, barcode quality is continually graded and securely recorded. Early warning messages prompt remedial action and prevent unsuitable barcodes being produced. Every labelling event is registered, and every pallet is uniquely identified with a full time, date and barcode quality audit being created.
A self-correction function automatically allows three attempts at reprinting or recoding before an error condition is indicated. The system can be fully integrated with external starting, stopping and upstream communication mechanisms.
