IMPACT Laboratories provide a broad range of test facilities and consultancy services for the packaging market.

As well as being UKAS accredited for dangerous goods packaging we have a comprehensive range of test facilities for the physical testing of materials, pack evaluation and performance for non dangerous goods.

Climatic Storage and test environments

A range of walk-in environmental chambers are available to simulate temperature and humidity conditions. These include

  • A 12m² cold room, operating to -40°C
  • 4 large environmental chambers operating to +50°C, various humidity possible.
  • 12m² conditioning chamber/laboratory operating at 23°C, 50% RH.
  • Environmental cabinets with variable temperature and humidity.

Package Testing

Physical Testing

Static and dynamic tests can be performed on a variety of machines appropriate to the product, whether plastic, fibreboard or metal. These can include,

  • A 6m drop tower for shock and drop testing.
  • Pressure testing
  • Impact/puncture testing
  • Tear/peel testing
  • Compression testing up to 10 tonne
  • Vibration testing.

All these tests can be performed to the relevant standards e.g. BS, ISO, FEFFCO,TAPPI etc.

Consultancy

Our technical staff are experts in handling a wide range of materials and packaging types. Their considerable experience in the interpretation of test results can provide the added benefit of insight and advice in packaging design and performance.

'The Lab Down the Corridor'

Impact's aim is to form a close partnership to become your 'lab down the corridor'. Confidential client pages give instant access, 24 hours a day to test status which is updated every 24hours. Data is supplemented with digital images to demonstrate product behaviour under test or failure modes. Reporting is customised to client requirements.
