SubscribePERFECT NT is a new press launched by ROTATEK that incorporates the latest technology. The press is servo-driven, this means that there is no mechanical lineshaft along the press.
A servo is a motor that is controlled by an electronic signal. The motor itself is a smallish, roughly cylindrical component that attaches to a cylinder on a press and drives it. The power is provided by a controller, and the controller is digitally programmed via a specific software.
Printing and converting stations on a conventional narrow web press are linked by a drive shaft which works in conjunctions with many gears. Print stations driven by servo motors do not have shafts or gears. There might be some gears in the machine, but there is no complicated system of gears that mesh in a shaft-driven press. The servo motors can drive print cylinders, impression cylinders, die cylinders, sheeting units, etc.
The new ROTATEK PERFECT NT uses two servo drive systems. One involves a single servo motor that pulls the web along the press. The other system employs servos on all printing and converting units, all connected to a central controller and with no line shafts. The advantage is that now you have separation of the rotation of the tool and the pacing of the web. You can change or reajust the tool and it won’t affect the pacing. You can advance and retard registration, and so forth. If it sees a register error, it immediately corrects it with no effect to the web. It can do a lot of immediate corrections, depending on what it detects.
The PERFECT NT is an offset press that can be combined with UV flexo, rotary screen, foil stamping, etc. It is available in a web width of 520 mm and it is capable of running speeds up to 350 m/min. The press is designed for the printing of flexible packaging, labels, cartons, commercial printing, direct mailing, etc. and can be customized to the specific needs of the customer.
This press has got a rather quick return of investment thanks to the following:
