Two printers for the price of one help Dainton launch new product

Dainton in North Yorkshire had devised a product to cope with a household problem. Their “Fat Trap” can be used to soak up cooking fat rather than pouring it down the sink, saving detergent and much better for the environment. The water companies like the idea too! They had the product packaging all designed, but wanted to mark the product itself to maximise their brand awareness.

They had considered Thermal transfer, but the cost was prohibitive both for the equipment and also the green ribbon that they wanted to use to link into the green credentials of the product. When they discussed the application with Rotech, it was pointed out that hot foil printers might be the solution as the equipment cost was roughly half that of Thermal and green hot foil tape was much the same price as black. In addition, a custom die could be engraved to give a high quality print onto the porous paper that contained the product.

Hot Foil Printing PackagingRotech’s complete design and fit service included a visit to the parent machine manufacturer to carry out a survey of the twin tube vertical bagging system, followed by a visit to Dainton’s new production facility to install and commission the coders.

John Black of Dainton says “Just as we were beginning to wonder if we would ever be able to print our pouches, Rotech came up with a high quality, cost effective solution that exactly met our needs. Once we placed our order, they managed the project right through to successful completion and the printers have continued to perform faultlessly”.
