A new gold holofoil from API Foils has been employed by M. Y. Cartons, to produce a new, special edition package for the re-launch of Golden Nuggets cereal for Cereal Partners U.K.
Interpreting The Brief
API Foils was approached by M. Y. Cartons to provide a selection of gold foils, following a request from Cereal Partners, who markets the Nestlé brand name, to achieve enhanced shelf impact for the new Golden Nuggets cereal packaging. The variety of foils supplied included a range of holographic foil, of which the final choice of foil was selected.

The Right Approach
Having worked with M. Y. Cartons on previous packaging designs, API Foils worked alongside the packaging specialists in Leeds from the beginning of the design process, advising the team on the best methods to use foiling and offering them a range of options that would enable M.Y Cartons to achieve the desired shelf impact for the packaging re-launch.
2) Throughout the process, API Foils was responsible for monitoring developments at M. Y. Cartons to ensure that when the decision was taken to use holofoil they could respond accordingly, in order to meet production deadlines. During the decision-making process API helped to constantly monitor printed design developments to ensure that production lead times were successfully met.
The Right Results
Following a trial process, in which a range of foils were considered, API Foils grade 121 holofoil was chosen as the most effective solution. The 121 grade of foil is an exceptionally versatile foil and is well suited to the aqueous coatings that M. Y. Cartons use on many of its products. Non-standard shims were produced at 174mm wide, which gave API Foils 7 rolls across the 1220mm width, all with no shim join present.
David Jarvis, Applications Project Manager for API Foils, commented: "The cereal industry is vastly becoming an increasingly competitive market. Packaging is key to making a brand distinct and raising awareness of the product in the marketplace.
Holographic technology is developing rapidly and is a valuable tool in the merchandising battle. The use of holographic foils on packaging can set a package off from the rest, fortify the brand and help brand owners offer on shelf brand superiority."
