SubscribeReifenhäuser was founded as a forge in 1911. It developed into an engineering company and made its first extruder in 1948. The company rapidly became a leader in the field of plastics extrusion machinery with an enviable reputation for high quality and technical excellence.
The core philosophy of the company is the sale of technology not merely steel: “if we cannot demonstrate the process we do not sell the equipment”. As a result the company has several very well equipped technical development and demonstration laboratories and a large R&D department.
Reifenhäuser manufactures its own extruder screws and barrels, its own annular and flat dies, co-extrusion adapters and winders in addition to the other line components necessary to allow sourcing from a single supplier.
Today the company remains a totally family-owned business, employing some 800 people at its factory in Troisdorf near Cologne. The joint Managing Directors are Ulrich and Klaus Reifenhäuser, the third generation of the family to head the company. Annual turnover is approximately € 250 million.
The Reifenhäuser Group includes Reiloy Metall GmbH (manufacturing highly wear- and corrosion-resistant barrels and screws); Reimotec (manufacturing lines for strapping tapes and monofilaments); Polyrema (handling second-hand and refurbished lines); as well as sales/service subsidiaries in Denmark, Singapore, Russia, France, India, Philippines, USA and UK.
Products
Blown film extrusion systems from simple mono lines to co-extrusion systems with up to 7 layers. Die sizes from 120 mm to 2,000 mm diameter. Extruders from 35 mm to 200 mm screw diameter. Film from 1,500 mm to 18 m bubble circumference. Complete automation packages are available to suit customers’ requirements (Reifenhäuser supplied the world’s first computer controlled blown film lines in 1978).
Cast film extrusion systems from simple mono lines to 7-layer systems. Die and line widths up to 4500 mm. Extruders from 25 mm to 200 mm diameter. Unique Reicoflow combining adapter. Choice of Reifenhäuser manual or automatic dies (thermal bolt or piezzo translator systems). Choice of Reifenhäuser winders depending on application.
Thermoforming sheet extrusion systems to produce sheet from 1 to 7-layers in widths of up 2200 mm from all common thermoplastics. Systems to produce highly filled sheet by direct extrusion using Reitruder co-rotating twin screw are available. The Reitruder can also be used to produce EPS and EPP in thermoforming sheet form.
Extrusion coating and laminating lines are available in line speeds up to 500 m/min, line widths from 600 – 3200 mm and with co-extrusion from 2 to 5-layers.
Other products include lines to produce Strapping tapes and Monofilaments.
The extruder department manufactures “stand alone” single screw extruders, contra-rotating twin-screw extruders (Bitruders) and co-rotating twin-screw extruders (Reitruders).
The die department provides “stand alone” Blown Film Dies, Flat Dies and Reicoflow combining adapters.
Stand-alone Film Winders for blown and cast applications can also be supplied.
Reifenhäuser operates a 24/7 service and spares “hotline” department (RQS - Reifenhäuser Quality Service). This operates 365 days per year and the company guarantees that you talk to a man not an answering machine! All Reifenhäuser automated lines have a built-in Modem facility so the need for visits from service personnel is much reduced, saving both time and money.
In the UK, Reifenhäuser Ltd is the agent for AFS Entwicklungs + Vertriebs GmbH, suppliers of corona discharge film treatment systems and hot needle perforators.
