The rising prices of traditional raw materials and the growing attention being paid to environmental issues have increased the need for ecologically attractive alternatives.
In answer to this Veriplast International has introduced VeriPure®, a complete range of packaging based on biologically degradable materials. This packaging is suitable for a wide range of products including cold drinks, vegetables, fruit, and salads and is one of the most extensive ranges available. In addition to the standard VeriPure® product range, Veriplast offers tailor-made solutions for individual customers. VeriPure® packaging is available throughout Europe.

Fully compostable
VeriPure® packaging is made from PLA (polylactic acid or polylactide), a lactic acid based polymer. Lactic acid is produced from dextrose by a fermentation process. The dextrose is obtained from starch. Sources of the starch are rice, maize, potatoes and sugar beet - all widely available raw materials. VeriPure® products are fully compostable and can be disposed of along with other organic materials. These materials decay in industrial composting processes leaving nothing except water and CO2.
Exceptional properties of PLA
Up to a temperature of 40°C, PLA has properties similar to those of traditional polymers such as polystyrene (PS). The material has relatively low CO2 and oxygen permeability, but does have high moisture vapour permeability. The packaging is fat, oil and acid resistant, forms an effective odour and taste barrier and has high clarity and gloss.
Seedling logo
VeriPure® products bear the seedling logo. This logo indicates that the packaging is made of compostable material and meets the European packaging standard EN 13432. It can be disposed of in the normal compostables container. The logo is the property of 'European Bioplastics', the German association for the promotion of biologically degradable products, and is managed and awarded by the German independent certifying institute DIN CERTCO.
