Low-Migration UV-Inks for Printing Food Packaging

For nearly 40 years Zeller+Gmelin has developed, manufactured and sold UV curing printing inks. We have been one of the leading companies in this segment for many years.

Zeller+Gmelin was the first printing ink manufacturer who introduced a certified low-migration UV-ink to the market.

In the following we present our current product range of low-migration UV-printing inks.

Low-Migration UV-Offset

• UVALUX® U41
Low-migration UV-Offset ink for "universal" printing on paper and foil. The ink series is odour reduced and specially developed for high press speeds.
• UVALUX® U71
Low-migration UV-Offset ink with optimised adhesion, specially developed for printing on “critical" foils. The ink series meets the special Nestlé requirements and has the official Nestlé approval!

Low-Migration UV-Flexo

• UVAFLEX® Y71
Low-migration UV-Flexo ink for the printing of flexible packaging and labels.

Container Decoration

• UVACURID® XUV
Low migration UV-printing ink series for direct printing on food packaging like cups, lids and buckets. The VACURID® XUV inks are printed with special printing machines in indirect letterpress printing on plastic containers. The ink series
meets the special Nestlé requirements and got the official Nestlé-approval!
• UVACURID® C71
New generation of low-migration UV inks for the direct decoration of preformed plastic food containers such as cups, buckets or lids. The UVACURID® C71 is a completely new development, with very good migration security at maximum press speed, with excellent printability, superb ink consistency and outstanding resistance.

Analytical Center

At Zeller+Gmelin we have our own analytical center at our disposal which we specially established for the development of low-migration printing inks, for quality control of our raw materials and for internal assessment of test samples. It controls the migration security of our inks by gas-chromatography (GC-MS) and liquid-chromatography (LC-MS) with mass-spectrogram.
Naturally we also send each of our low-migration ink series to independent analytical institutes for analysis and evaluation.
With this double verification we offer maximum possible product security to printers, brand owners and consumers. Many analytical results prove that our low-migration ink series are professionally handled it is possible with them to meet or even clearly undercut the legal 10ppb migration limit in migration tests with 95% ethanole.
