Logopak, invertors of print and apply labelling have been awarded a substantial contract for the supply of case and pallet labelling solutions to integrate into a track and trace project being implemented by one of Scotland's premier whisky producers.
The contract includes the supply of sixteen (16) Logopak 515 case / carton labelling systems with integrated Sick CLV 400 scanners for the application of an outer label to each case of whisky on each of 16 production lines.
Data printed on this label will include;
- Works order number
- Lot code
- Sequential number
All of which will be replicated in a bar code (either EAN 128 or Datamatrix), which will be scanned by a second Scanner mounted at the infeed to each palletiser.
This data will then be stored in the PLC and associated with a specific pallet base for later use in the traceability of pallets and cases.
Later when each pallet arrives at one of 6 stretch wrappers in two production halls, after wrapping a GS1 compliant pallet label will be applied to two adjacent faces of each pallet.
On arrival at one of the 6 Logopak 920PF pallet labellers being installed, the data held in the line PLC from the scan already taken at the palletiser infeed (all the case numbers on that pallet and the pallet base number) will be associated with a new and unique SSCC number, self generated by each 920PF labeller.
This data will be returned through the Logopak LEAP controller to an “INVAR” warehouse management software solution being installed and will give full tracking of Product (bottle) to carton (6 or 12 bottles) through to pallet (up to 60 cases) using each case number and SSCC pallet number.
Additional to the supply will be a number of Logopak VLP 200 off line printers which will be used as a back-up to both the case labelling solutions and the pallet labellers.
Logopak is a leading supplier of industrial automated print & apply labelling systems and is based in York.
