Since polypropylene is known to offer the lightest and lowest cost/volume ratio of all the commodity plastics, PP is fast becoming the packaging material of choice for FMCG producers.
To benefit form the excellent balance of stiffness and impact strength of PP in injection moulding, it is important to ensure an excellent finish.
Using almost 15 years of experience, ADEKA-PALMAROLE offers additive products that help reduce sink marks and other surface defects. Although not a well-known name in packaging, ADEKA-PALMAROLE is hoping to improve this by actively promoting food approved additives in masterbatch form for packaging producers to use.

The photo shows bottle caps injection moulded from PP for a commercial cosmetic bottle. The use of 0.5-1.0% of PALMAROLE BA.K2.E is enough to reduce sink marks and allow a top class product to be moulded. Palmarole BA.K2.E is a 20% active component masterbatch in a PP compatible polymer blend carrier. The active component, an endothermic blowing agent system has full EU food approval and a recommended processing temperature of 210°-270°C.
PALMAROLE BA.K2.E is not the only grade that is used for injection moulding. Furthermore, PALMAROLE BA.K2.E may be used for weight reduction of PP and other polymers. Also, as an example of the innovative character of ADEKA-PALMAROLE, these special blowing agent systems are offered in concentrated forms with up to 70% active content depending on the requirements of the packaging producer.
