ExpressCube manufactures state-of-the-art dimensioning - volumetric and weighing equipment
The ExpressCube™ countertop low-cost cubing and weighing system enables companies to meet shaped-based pricing criteria of the US Postal Service, dimensional - volumetric and weight billing criteria by global commercial couriers.
The New ExpressCube Patent
ExpressCube manufactures state-of-the-art dimensioning - volumetric and weighing equipment that will eliminate chargebacks and optimise warehouse and logistic operations. The ExpressCube™ countertop system is a low-cost
cubing and weighing system designed to meet point of sale, factory shipping and logistic applications. The unit is capable of measuring the dimensions of rectangular or square objects in inches or centimeters, weigh the object in pounds or kilograms, and calculate the dimensional weight based on user-defined cubing factors. ExpressCube is now a patented technology with the attainment of United States Patent 7,373,722 for its underlying technology. ExpressCube utilises 30 years of proven technology and innovative design. ExpressCube is the indisputable state-of-the-art dimensioning and weighing solution.
ExpressCube is classified as a device for measuring package size in a patent issued May 20, 2008. Specifically, it is a package measurement apparatus comprising three measurement devices, one for each dimension. Each measurement device comprises a plurality of signal receptor modules. Each module comprises a row of signal receptors, and a signal energy source. In a first calibration step, the outputs of each receptor are standardised to reference maximums and minimums. In a second calibration step, calibration sets of receptor inputs are created and recorded. During measurement, a measurement of receptor outputs is obtained and matched with a calibration set of receptor outputs to determine the dimension of an object.
Underlying the patent is the versatility of the ExpressCube technology. Our desktop devices open simply and are ready to operate with no special ambient lighting or power requirements. The patent also describes a green friendly device with a power draw of less than 15 watts. That versatility has seen the device installed in a broad variety of interesting applications.
The ExpressCube 150
There are a range of ExpressCube devices. Here is one that we would like to highlight for you. The ExpressCube 150 is a low cost dimensioning and weighing system targeted to meet moderate dimensional - volumetric scale applications.
Shippers needed a method of checking the volume and weight of their parcels for freight charge purposes. The ExpressCube 150 Volumetric Scale is cost effective, simple to install, and simple to use.
The ExpressCube 150 is a simple but accurate method of weighing shipping boxes and their contents and determining their volumetric proportions - length, width and height.
The ExpressCube 150 Volumetric Scale is the smart replacement for a simple digital scale and tape measure. The digital scale and tape measure should be abandoned for the ExpressCube 150 because:
- Industry compliance dictates that all packages have a correct volumetric weight
- Companies can incur costly chargebacks from inaccurately calculated volumetric weight
- It is inefficient and time consuming to manually measure and weigh packages
- Manual measurement means inaccurate and error-prone manual entry of data
- Manual measuring is reliant on language and math skills
- You have to understand and use the dimensioning (DIM) formula to use volumetric weight
- It creates a strong temptation to make a WAG
- Tape measures get lost (see 7)
- It requires committed and conscientious staff
- It leads to a missed opportunity for a more cost-effective semi-automated solution like the ExpressCube 150 Volumetric Scale
The ExpressCube 150 provides an effective solution for a shipping or dispatch department to calculate volume and weight.
The ExpressCube 150 Volumetric Scale provides instant determination of volumetric weight. With the press of one key, you can determine volumetric weight and apply that physical calculation to dimensional (DIM) factors used by different carriers.
The ExpressCube 150 is designed to fit on a 24" counter. This unit will measure rectangular boxes with dimensions contained within an 18" x 24" x 30" measuring grid (7.5 ft3) and weight up to 70 lbs. The ExpressCube 150
Volumetric Scale sets the standard for freight manifesting.
ExpressCube countertop units are designed to allow software vendors to integrate their shipping software. The shipper only has to place the parcel on the ExpressCube unit and then the measuring sequence can be controlled directly by the third party shipping software. With almost every order being different, the variation in billing costs due to volumetric weight calculated into dimensional weight become very difficult to predict without time consuming measurements and weight calculations.
